As video calls have become the norm for communication, it can be difficult to maintain eye contact with the camera, especially when reading notes or distracted. NVIDIA, the multinational technology company, has recently launched a new tool that aims to fix this problem: NVIDIA Eye Contact.

The NVIDIA Eye Contact is a new feature of the NVIDIA Broadcast app, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to simulate the eyes of the user as if they are looking straight at the camera while recording. When the user is distracted or looking elsewhere, the AI-powered feature instantly edits the video in real-time to make it appear like they are staring straight at the camera.

Nvidia Product Line Manager Gerardo Delgado stated that Eye Contact is ideal for content creators who want to record themselves while reading notes or a script, or avoid having to stare directly at the camera. Video conference presenters will be able to look at the eyes of the person they are speaking with, improving engagement and interaction with their audiences.

While some may view NVIDIA Eye Contact as the future of video calls, others may see it as the stuff of nightmares. The concept of having AI control the movement of our eyes during video calls is both comforting and creepy, and raises questions about the ethics of using AI to manipulate human behavior.

If you’re curious about NVIDIA Eye Contact, you can download the NVIDIA Broadcast app and try it out for yourself. Just be aware that it may take some getting used to, and that others may see it as unsettling.

Just so y’all know – I agree it was a war crime for me to use this clip, and I would like to apologize to Mr. White and his family at this time. https://t.co/MrLGtCU75e
